Outfit to Card {Hello Friend}

Over the years, I've amassed quite a collection of pages torn from magazines. I developed this habit in high school when I plastered my walls with every image I fell in love with from Elle, Vogue, Bazzar, etc.-much to my mom's dismay (did you know scotch tape can peel paint off?). Recently I started storing them in page covers in a binder for easy reference. Per my usual Sunday night routine, I was making a list of things I needed to do this week and realized I was behind on making MANY cards. I'm already behind on two birthday cards (guess they'll be Belated Birthdays now), and wanted to get one card out to my girlfriend tomorrow. I was at a loss for what to make, but as soon as I started looking through my binder, I found my inspiration. I love navy and green together. It can be preppy or chic, casual or dressy. When I saw this lovely dress in Lucky, it became the inspiration for a card. I think it turned out nice. What do you think? Where do you find inspiration?

I hope you all had a great holiday weekend! I spent quality time with some of my favorite people, finished sewing another skirt (more on that later this week) and enjoyed another splurge day with my husband that included our first stop at a Sonic! Classy, I know. But hey- sometimes you need a bit of that. What did you do? Hope you had better/consistent weather than we did.

It was a long, but exciting week last week. I moved to a new job and am in the middle of transitioning my old one to my old team. It's great to feel energized again and be learning something new. The downside was that by Friday I was a pile of mush. I forgot how much it takes out of you learning a new job. New people to meet, processes to learn, a team to hire, and strategy to create! Happy Hour? um yes please. So that's where I headed after my long week and let me tell you... that beer tasted damn good!

Irish for a day

With a name like Erin O'Leary, you would think I'm 100% Irish. I'm not. In fact, I'm such a small percentage of Irish, it's kinda comical. But, that doesn't stop me from celebrating my Irish pride on St. Patrick's Day. I wear green, eat green foods and drink green beer, but I won't, repeat won't, hit the bars on said day. It's a day for rookies and people use it as an excuse to take drinking to the extreme. I don't enjoy waiting in line for 20 minutes to get a beer or use the restroom. I also don't like being jostled around by every Tom, Dick and Harry in the place. Instead, I went to the gym, got my butt kicked by my trainer (awesome!) and then had a shamrock shake. All in all, a perfect night. What did you do on St. Patrick's Day?

I threw this on Sunday evening to have dinner with my man and then watch the Oscars. Did you catch them? It was painful watching Anne Hathaway and James Franco host. I'm a big fan of Anne, but this was down right uncomfortable to watch. The chemistry between the two of them was awkward at best.  What did you think?

Monday's are always tough for me, and today was no different. It took me FOREVER to get ready this am. I started out with this:

Then threw on the sweater:

And than realized I would freeze to death without tights, so this is what I ended up with. I like it better without the tights- not so dark, which is why I moved the location...better light in the am in my office.

The rest of today I was running around like a crazy lady trying to get everything done prior to leaving for Oakland/SFO tomorrow. Starting the day at the dentist is not my favorite way to start a Monday. When I finally got in to work, it was back to back meetings and trying to get all my stuff ready for my visits Tues and Wed. After work I had a workout with my trainer-my body still feels like jell-o. Packing was the easiest chore on my list. I don't know how that happened, but it did. It was harder for me to find red/khaki combos to wear to the stores than to plan my non-work outfits. Thank you 30 for 30 for making this easier than normal. With limited clothes to chose from, and desperately wanting to be finished with this challenge, I created two of my final three outfits to wear on this trip. I'm planning on getting some pictures with San Fran in the background. Look for them later this week. Hope you have a good week!

This dress has become a favorite in my remix list. I've had to restrain myself from wearing it all the time. And to think...prior to this remix I rarely wore it. I found it a few summers ago on clearance at Anthropologie. It was one of those finds you buy simply because the price is too good to pass up. Turns out, it was a good investment, but I would have never known unless I had done this challenge. Do you have something in your closet that has been brought back to life by this challenge?

Check out the ways I've remixed this dress in the past month:

What a busy Friday! Work flew by and the next thing you know, I was sitting at Happy Hour enjoying a big ole glass of wine. A coworker is starting his new job on Monday and we were sending him off in style. The good thing is, this time I was able to enjoy the happy hour (instead of having to go home to finish work like I did on Thursday night). When Ramesh picked me up, we decided to hit up one of our favorite local pizzerias to grab some dinner. It was delicious (and much needed after enjoying my glasses(!) of wine). Hope you had a good Friday too!

What a weekend! Friday was a night to curl up with a glass (or three!) of wine and get caught up on tivo (Mentalist, Bones, Glee and Vampire Diaries anyone???) Saturday the weather was simply gorgeous! I spent the afternoon raking snow off my roof. Now this may not sound fun to most of you, but it was an afternoon outside. In the sun. Without a coat. That, my friends, makes for a wonderful day in MN in February. Saturday evening we had a fantastic dinner with friends we hadn't seen since before Christmas. Today, I spent the afternoon at a Stampin' Up party making cards. Pretty much an awesome weekend. Hope you had a great one too!

Day 6. Monday. It was a long day at work and then got my a#$ handed to me at the gym. I like a good, tough workout, so all's good. It was tougher getting ready this am. What I had planned to wear was too bold for work - picture the above outfit but with matching purple tights (the same color as my bag). I liked it, but when I took my first photos, I felt it was a bit too loud for the corporate world. Back to basic black I went. Maybe I'll break them out on the weekend. I'm trying to get bolder with my hosiery options, but they never seem to look quite right one me. When I see others with colored tights, they always look so cute. I don't know what it is, maybe it's just in my head and I need to just do it. We'll see if I can make it work during the 30 for 30.
