Favorite Pants

You've seen these pants before (here). They have been favorites of mine for going on 12 years now. I have to stagger when I wear them as they aren't easy to forget. I'm loving this cardi paired with them that I picked up at Target. It's so soft and comfy. This piece will be coming with me when I travel to CA next week.  I'm counting down the days to spending some quality time with my girls. But first, a few days of work in Orange County. Then, I'm heading up the coast to San Luis Obispo. My favorite place to visit (not to mention we got married in Pismo Beach).  We plan to hit up the farmer's market, county fair to see Maroon 5 and Train, and some wine tasting in Paso Robles.

Smoking Jacket

Guess what? It's casual week at work for the next two weeks! Loves it. Anytime I get to wear whatever I want to work, life is good. I found this men's robe at a vintage store earlier this fall. Every time I wear it, I feel like I belong in a 1950's movie. It reminds me of men's smoking jackets from that era. Back when I was in high school I used to scour the vintage stores for men's silk pajama bottoms. I had them in every print imaginable. I wore them to school as pants all the time. Imagine them tightly pinned and rolled at the bottom. Yep. That was how I rolled and I thought it was HOT. Who doesn't love a comfy pair of pj's that double as pants? This girl does. Might have to bring that style back-minus the pins and rolling.

Weathered

Based on the looks of our garage (isn't that hole by my head lovely?), it's time either paint or reside. Last year we had the house painted and that was no small task. Thank god we hired out for that or we'd still be painting. Normally, I'm a DIYer, but when it comes to big, surmounting tasks like this, I prefer to hire someone. So if you know anyone who'll give me a fair bid, send them my way.

After the fantastic weekend weather we had, the yard is starting to shape up as well. As soon as the seed fills in, I'll share pictures. I'm actually looking forward to hanging out back here and spending the warm nights with great friends and good rosé (my new favorite summer wine).

Sneak Peek and High Waisted

I'm still working on my skirt project and thought I'd give you a sneak peak. I'm almost done, but it's taken a back seat until the weekend. This week has been crazy busy. Thursday we're throwing a BBQ/Scotch night for our friend Hadley- check out his blog on his 365 challenge here. He's moving to San Francisco the end of the month and we wanted to wish him well. On top of that, our friend's birthday is the same day, so we're combining the events. I don't know how, but I seem to have run out of time this week. Between finding a recipe and making a red velvet cheesecake (more on that tomorrow), getting my butt handed to me by my trainer (would have been less brutal had I been working out that past two weeks!), making two birthday cards and an engagement card and helping get the house in order for the party, I haven't been able to get quality blog time. If I can make it to the weekend, I'll be back on track.

 I was digging in the back of my closet the other day and stumbled upon this dress. I bought it in San Fran a few years back for a girlfriend's birthday party and that was the last time I wore it. Since it wasn't getting any play time in my closet, I decided that I needed to find a way to make it more versatile. The vest did the trick and made it feel more appropriate to wear to work. I love when I can find things like this in my closet and repurpose them!

Cheap Sailor

 I've gushed in the past of my adoration for JCrew, it's a sickness for me. Have I mentioned I keep every month's catalog in a file? I leaf through them frequently for inspiration. Their styling is spot on with a cool mix of prep and trend. I've been a fan of them since I was in High School, and that was a LONG time ago friends! The other night I became giddy when I walked into my local JCrew and found all clearance items were an additional 30% off- that's like getting it for free. I found this sweater for a whopping $13.99 (original price was $110!). It's got a great pea coat look to it and I see a lot of wear in the near future.

Librarian

I felt very "librarian" today. I don't know why. Maybe it's the wide legged pants with the long grandpa like cardigan? All I needed was a pair of specs and the look would've been nailed. I had laser eye surgery a few years back when I found out I wouldn't be able to wear contacts ever again. I loved my glasses (I had sooooo many pairs), but didn't love the fact that I would have to wear them ALL the time. Laser surgery it was and I haven't looked back! HA, pun intended! But, I do find myself gazing at glasses and contemplating buying them with clear lenses for fashion sake. Is that wrong? I think they can be a great accessory. What do you think?

30 for 30 {Day 21-Girly Professional}

Blouse-Gap, Cami-Target, Skirt-BCBG, Tights-Hue, Belt-Love Culture, Shoes-BCBG, Bag-Coach,Watch-Coach,
Bracelet-Juicy Couture, Bracelet-Local, Necklace-Forever21, Necklace-Juicy Couture, Earrings-Limited
I'm loving the color combo I pulled together today. Something simple and basic, yet not. I felt very girly and professional at the same time. Shows ya that you can make basics look chic and stylish - just add some key accessories. And add I did. I wore quite a bit of bling today-one of my co-workers even made a comment about it. It's just that I didn't want this to be another boring skirt/shirt combo. If I've learned anything in this remix, it's that I've got to have accessories. Limit my clothes, hold them hostage for all I care, just keep your hands off my accessories!
