Perfectly Paisley

Blouse-Francesca's, Sweater and Skirt-JCrew, Boots-Aldo,

Today's going to be short and sweet. With the Holidays in full swing, I'm crunched for time. Love, love, love this paisley skirt from JCrew. Can't wait to re-mix with other items in my closet. Not to mention it's a bold burst of color. Something I need right now because when I get busy I tend to start dressing in neutrals. It's quick and easy.

Infused with color

I've fully embraced color this spring. When I wear colorful clothes, I simply feel better. Black, grey and brown worn alone tend to make me feel drab. Don't get me wrong, I love to wear these colors (and tend to all winter long), but there's something about color that puts an extra spring in my step. When I go through a client's closet, the common theme tends to be a lot of black and grey. Staples in every woman's closet that can become boring if not pulled together with the right accents. Something as simple as a pair of colored shoes can take a plain outfit to amazing. Today I'm challenging you to add color to your closet. Add something small- a scarf, jewelry, shoes or even a handbag. Try it and see how you feel. I bet others will notice. How will you work color into your everyday routine? I'd love to know.

Did you miss me?

Hello my lovelies! I'm back...did you miss me? It's been two weeks. I didn't intend to be away for so long. I had some hiccups when I got back. First, my camera went missing. I searched high and low, basically tore the house apart (my husband thought I'd lost my mind), but couldn't find it. I was sure I had packed it when I left Maui. But, apparently I didn't. It was still in my girlfriend's beach bag. So pictures from Maui will have to wait. The camera is in snail mail on it's way to me from California. Then, blogger went on the fritz. I was all set to post and couldn't get in. But here I am! I missed you all :)
Since I don't have any exciting Maui pictures (yet!), you'll have to do with what I wore to work yesterday.

I'm so happy it's the weekend. Do you have anything exciting on the agenda? I'm going out for sushi with the girls, attempting a sewing project (more on that next week pending results from the weekend!),  and picking up my recent purchase from a friend - an Eames Chair and ottoman! I'm so excited. I have been coveting this chair for YEARS, and now I am the proud owner of one. Now I just need to find a spot for it.

Whatever you have planned for the weekend, I hope you have a fab one!

I've gushed in the past of my adoration for JCrew, it's a sickness for me. Have I mentioned I keep every month's catalog in a file? I leaf through them frequently for inspiration. Their styling is spot on with a cool mix of prep and trend. I've been a fan of them since I was in High School, and that was a LONG time ago friends! The other night I became giddy when I walked into my local JCrew and found all clearance items were an additional 30% off- that's like getting it for free. I found this sweater for a whopping $13.99 (original price was $110!). It's got a great pea coat look to it and I see a lot of wear in the near future.

With Spring in the air, temps warming up, and daylight lasting longer, it was high time I broke out some color and spiced things up at work. This is my toned down version of color blocking. I originally wanted to wear a bright orange sweater on top, but thought it might a bit bold for my co-workers. Thus, I opted for a light orange gingham blouse. This is by far my favorite spring outfit to date. I can't wait to break out more color. Long live spring!

Thanks J.Crew

The J.Crew staff

Last night's Shop and Share at J.Crew was a HUGE success. We had a blast and all the girls walked out with some great stuff. The staff at the store were amazing...dealing with 12 women going in all directions is no small feat, and they smiled through the whole event. I will definitely set another one up, so check back for the next event.

Card-igan

After a quick trip to LA for work earlier this week, I'm back home working hard to get invites out for the Shop and Share event I'm hosting at J.Crew next week. I changed my design from the original sketches because as I was waiting to board the plane, I had an idea to use a sweater for the card. The card would be a cardigan opening where the buttons normally are. My inspiration was J.Crew's Infinity cardigan. I always travel with it. It's versatile in any temperature and great for layering. When I set out to make the cards, I decided to make each card different, but within the same color scheme of cream and black. I added a ribbon closure to keep the card shut. I think they turned out wonderful.  What do you think?

Shop and Share

While recently shopping at J crew, I found out about a cool new program they are offering. It's called Shop and Share. You pick the day and time (even when they aren't open), bring at least four of your friends and J crew makes sure they can devote themselves to you during that time - all while giving 20% off everything you buy! Can I tell you I almost died when I heard this? I've been shopping at J Crew since high school, and when Jenna Lyons took over as Creative Director, I became obsessed with them. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Jenna. Her sense of style is so effortless and chic and the same time. She has a way of mixing up the classics so they aren't so... well classic! I immediately worked with one of their shoppers to set up an event for my friends. And, you know that means I have to make invites for them. Here's a sneak peak at the sketches. I'll post pics later this week of the real deal.
