I hope you all had a great holiday weekend! I spent quality time with some of my favorite people, finished sewing another skirt (more on that later this week) and enjoyed another splurge day with my husband that included our first stop at a Sonic! Classy, I know. But hey- sometimes you need a bit of that. What did you do? Hope you had better/consistent weather than we did.

Infused with color

I've fully embraced color this spring. When I wear colorful clothes, I simply feel better. Black, grey and brown worn alone tend to make me feel drab. Don't get me wrong, I love to wear these colors (and tend to all winter long), but there's something about color that puts an extra spring in my step. When I go through a client's closet, the common theme tends to be a lot of black and grey. Staples in every woman's closet that can become boring if not pulled together with the right accents. Something as simple as a pair of colored shoes can take a plain outfit to amazing. Today I'm challenging you to add color to your closet. Add something small- a scarf, jewelry, shoes or even a handbag. Try it and see how you feel. I bet others will notice. How will you work color into your everyday routine? I'd love to know.

Did you miss me?

Hello my lovelies! I'm back...did you miss me? It's been two weeks. I didn't intend to be away for so long. I had some hiccups when I got back. First, my camera went missing. I searched high and low, basically tore the house apart (my husband thought I'd lost my mind), but couldn't find it. I was sure I had packed it when I left Maui. But, apparently I didn't. It was still in my girlfriend's beach bag. So pictures from Maui will have to wait. The camera is in snail mail on it's way to me from California. Then, blogger went on the fritz. I was all set to post and couldn't get in. But here I am! I missed you all :)
Since I don't have any exciting Maui pictures (yet!), you'll have to do with what I wore to work yesterday.

I'm so happy it's the weekend. Do you have anything exciting on the agenda? I'm going out for sushi with the girls, attempting a sewing project (more on that next week pending results from the weekend!),  and picking up my recent purchase from a friend - an Eames Chair and ottoman! I'm so excited. I have been coveting this chair for YEARS, and now I am the proud owner of one. Now I just need to find a spot for it.

Whatever you have planned for the weekend, I hope you have a fab one!

Spring Blooms

I don't think we're ever going to see Spring. The forecast is calling for snow this week-IT'S MID APRIL PEOPLE! Usually by now the weather is much more tolerable. To offset my grumpy mood with the weather, I'm enforcing brights and florals into my daily dress. Once I get past March, I have a hard time wearing anything that reminds me of winter. I pack away all my tights, boots and heavy sweaters. Now it looks like I might have to pull some of them back out. Not. Happy. I'm going to dress in denial and keep telling myself Maui is one week away. Oh, didn't I mention that I'll be gone for 8 days as I relax in Maui with my two BFFs. Can't wait. It's a girls getaway and I'm planning to do a lot of nothing. I'll get my Spring one way or another.

Closet Overhaul

Saturday was spent with a new client. We went through her closet, cleaned out all her old stuff and put together about 20+ outfits with what was left. I took pictures for her to reference when pulling together outfits and then made her a list of the items she should be on the lookout for. I love going through other's closets and showing them the possibilities they have. It's like giving them a whole new wardrobe. Next up we'll be shopping for the items on the list and she's going to be looking amazing!

On my way home from her house, I stopped at an out of the way Target and found the two necklaces I'm wearing on clearance. They were a steal to begin with, but then layer in my discount and the additional 5% off for using a Target card and it was almost like they paid me to get them!! Looks like I need to venture outside the city limits once in a while to get my hands on the stuff that doesn't sell in suburbia.

I'm loving my Tucker for Target (say that 10 times fast!) dress that I recently purchased and talked about here. The only drawback is I see it on EVERYONE at work. That's what happens when you work for a company that collaborates with cute designers. I haven't seen it mixed the way I've got it on today though, so that makes me feel better. I'm going to get a ton of wear out of this little number. Outfits are whizzing through my brain even as I type this. Would it be wrong if I just wore it everyday but remixed differently? No?  Well, maybe not such a great idea. My co-workers might think I'd gone off the deep end. But, here's an even better idea-what if Target took part in the 30 for 30 and gave me 30 items to remix for 30 days? Talk about marketing campaign for their clothes! How fun would that be? I might have to get on that!

Target (or Tar-jay)

Check these beauties out! They arrived in the mail today from Target.com. Aren't they just gorgeous? I didn't even realize they were available yet, but... they are. Just one more great designer partnership with Target! Have I mentioned I love Target (doesn't hurt that I work for them - but they don't pay me to write this stuff, just love the place I work!). When I saw these shoes online this weekend, I knew I had to have them. Now, I could have just run down to my Target to get them, but they were buy one, get one 50% off online only! Now that's a deal I couldn't pass up (add on my team member discount and the 5% rewards for using my Target Visa- can you say STEAL!!). I should be getting the other pair later this week- for some reason they needed to ship them separately (not that I mind because it was also free shipping).

Speaking of Target, Tuesday was our Spring Meeting. Picture a sea of people, dressed in red and khaki, invading downtown Minneapolis on their way to Target Center. There's always a buzz of anticipation as you walk into the meeting - who will be there (this meeting it was Ricky Martin and Jennifer Hudson!), what's coming up this year (Godiva chocolate for Easter? Yum) and reconnecting with friends in from the field. It's always a good time and today was no exception. During the meeting, we had a fashion show highlighting the Go International 5 year celebration. It featured the dresses from various designers we've collaborated with over the years. I snagged four(!) of the re-released dresses last Friday. The store I shop at is an early set store, so I was there waiting for them to open. As soon as we were let in, it was a mod scene in dresses. Girls were grabbing 5-6 dresses at a time. I don't think I've ever seen a line for the fitting room at Target! I went in to get one, walked out with four and was happy with all of my purchases. Can't wait to remix them this spring and summer!

30 for 30 {Days 28 & 29- San Fran!}

I was in San Francisco Tues, Wed, Thurs this week (Oakland if you want to get specific, but we stayed in San Fran). It was a busy two days of wearing red and khaki and visiting stores. I did manage to wear two outfits from my 30 items though because we did squeeze in a bit of fun in while we were there.

San Francisco is my favorite city! I'm not quite sure why I don't live there, but alas, I don't. I've been going there since I was young (we're talking like 10) with my parents, and then after college, my BFF moved there. What better excuse to visit the city then to see her. Sadly, she just moved to Reno in January. No more trips to visit her in the city, but I still have loads of friends that live there and another one moving there this summer. At some point, we will live there. Just don't think it will be anytime soon (insert sad face picture of me here).

We didn't get to do anything in the city Tuesday night because we were at our new Oakland-Emeryville store opening and then opted to get dinner nearby. We couldn't stomach eating at 9pm (11pm our time) when we hadn't had a meal yet that day. We grabbed a bite to eat in Emeryville at Cocina Poblana. The fajitas were yummy.

Wednesday we got back into the city earlier and had a chance to run around a bit. Too bad the weather didn't want to cooperate with us - couldn't decide if it wanted to rain or just mist. Typical San Fran weather. I did get my coworker to snap a few shots of my outfit in Union Square to show you what I wore. After that, we met one of my girlfriends for all you can eat sushi at Nara sushi on Polk. It was delicious.

With a morning flight out of Oakland, I didn't have time to take pictures in the city, so you'll have to do with my attempted snaps from my hotel room. Not as easy as I would have liked, but it will do. One outfit left to go! WOO HOO!

Indian Dinner

A few weeks back, my husband ran into a family friend from India visiting their daughter here in MN. Their daughter had a baby two weeks ago, and they invited us to meet them for dinner this past Sunday. There's nothing like homemade Indian food! We had goat curry, fried egg dosa and tandoor chicken. This was my first time having goat, and shockingly, I liked it. The whole evening was an experience for me, as the father only spoke Tamil. It was fascinating to watch my husband speak Tamil with them and then translate for me. He better get used to it, because when we go to India in January, he'll be doing that a lot for me.

With the new baby, I once again found myself looking for a gift in the baby department, this time at Target. Is it just me, or is everything adorable when shopping for little girls?. I went with the winter wear theme, seeing as we had just experienced the first snow fall.

I also took the opportunity to make them a card. You know how I like to get crafty.
